The USD 253 Emporia Board of Education is meeting Wednesday, and the latest COVID-19 update is among a series of agenda items to address.
Wednesday’s update from Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder follows the district’s first dashboard update of the trimester which included four new staff positives and 10 COVID-positive students as well as one staffer in quarantine, 11 students in standard home quarantine and 14 students in modified quarantine. The dashboard is available here.
There are several items on the agenda from there:
*The board could approve a notice of intent to sell property at the north end of the 1700 block of West Seventh outside Mary Herbert and part of the south end of 327 South West as the city of Emporia looks to secure land to help alleviate the city’s ongoing housing shortage.
*The board could approve the purchase of Sonday classroom materials to provide reading support for students through eighth grade.
*The board could approve memorandums of understanding with Greenbush for driver’s education and CrossWinds for mental health services.
*The board could also approve playground purchases from Athco for the Jones Early Childhood Development Center.
There is one executive session planned to evaluate Anderson-Harder’s performance as superintendent.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at Mary Herbert.
