The Emporia State Athletics Department has announced its Hall of Honor inductees for this year.
On the list are:
*Miranda Campbell, who played softball from 2007-2010
*Ting Liu, who played volleyball from 2007-2010
*Brittany Miller. who played both volleyball and women’s basketball from 2007-2011
*Alli Volkens, who played women’s basketball from 2007-2011
*The 1981 softball team that advance to the first official NAIA Softball World Series
*KVOE Sports Director Greg Rahe, who has served as the radio Voice of the Hornets since 1988
ESU Associate Athletics Director in charge of media relations Don Weast says Rahe is thoroughly deserving of the honor.
Weast says Rahe has been involved in over 1,500 broadcasts during his career, including football, basketball, baseball and softball as well as his coverage of other ESU athletics.
For his part, Rahe says it’s a humbling honor.
Rahe is a nine-time award winner through the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and the 2018 winner of the Hod Humiston Award for significant contributions to sports broadcasting in Kansas.
The inductions will take place during ESU’s Homecoming activities on Oct. 23. Because of COVID-19’s impact to the schedule last year, the 2020 Hall of Honor class will also be recognized:
*Alan Johnson, men’s track and field 1974-75
*Cassondra Boston Richards, women’s basketball 2006-2010
*Samantha Sheeley, softball 2007-2008
*Arica Shepard Ahlvers, volleyball 2006-2009
*KVOE station owner Steve Sauder
