An Ottawa teenager was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Coffey County Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Old Highway 50 and Native Road six miles west of Waverly just before 3:30 pm. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a John Deere 4930 tractor driven by 20-year-old Eric White of Waverly was traveling northbound on Native Road and was crossing onto Old 50 into the path of a westbound 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 pickup driven by 17-year-old Jock Roecker of Ottawa.
The Roecker truck struck the side of the tractor causing the tractor’s right rear tire to go over the pickup. The tractor came to a rest on its side while the pickup came to a rest right side up.
Roecker was taken to Advent Health Hospital with suspected serious injuries. White suffered no apparent injuries according to KHP.
Word on Roecker’s status is not available at this time. Roecker was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
