Newman Physical Therapy is settling into its new home on the hospital’s campus.
The therapy department is moving into the one-time emergency department space, but Director David Crotts says it’s a custom-designed location that helps patients and staff alike. It’s also a vast improvement from the prior space at 1024 Chestnut.
This includes an easier layout and space for patients to navigate, as well as an all-ground-level facility and covered entrance.
Patients will use Entrance G, the old emergency room entrance, to access Newman Therapy Services. Operated by Mathis Rehab Centers, Newman Therapy Services offers outpatient physical, speech, occupational and specialty therapy services for adults and children alike.
The relocation and renovation of the former emergency room was funded by the 2020 Denim and Diamonds campaign, bond funds and a specific grant to the pediatric therapy gym from the Emporia Community Foundation’s 79 Fund.
