New coronavirus cases and active hospitalizations related to the virus are up in Lyon County Public Health’s latest report Wednesday.
New cases increased by 28 and now stand at 4,809 since late March 2020. Hospitalizations, meanwhile, climbed from four to six.
Active cases, meanwhile, were sharply lower, dropping from 167 to 102.
School-age or university-age residents — those up to age 23 — now account for over 1,300 total cases, or 27 percent of the affected overall population. They also account for a third of the active cases and two of the recent hospitalizations, according to Public Health’s online dashboard.
Lyon County has moved from 14th overall to 18th in the state’s COVID County Rankings despite a slight increase in total vaccination and cases per 100,000 residents rankings. A rankings dip for tests per 100,000 residents accounted for the lower overall score.
