COVID-19 is altering the operations plan at the Lyon County Historical Society’s Howe House and Farmstead.
Director Greg Jordan says operations outside the farmstead are on as planned. Operations inside are now on hold.
This comes with the History Center recently creating a walking path on the property. Jordan says the trail is still available for public use from sunrise to sunset. Work has been underway all summer to catalog the different plant species on the property, with information displayed on pink flags along the path.
In addition, the floral quilt show set to begin Tuesday has been postponed and will likely be back on the schedule next spring.
Mask use, meanwhile, is strongly encouraged at the History Center in downtown Emporia.
This comes as the History Center has switched from summer to fall operating hours, meaning the facility is open from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays.
