Thanks to not having any coronavirus-related patient transfers, Coffey Health System had notable decreases in related data with its report Monday.
Last week, the hospital reported calling over 60 hospitals on average between Aug. 22-28 to transfer patients an average of 230 miles away from Burlington for care. On Monday, the hospital reported making an average of six calls for every patient transfer between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4 with an average radius of 90 miles. The average transfer time was 8.5 hours.
Coffey Health System reported eight COVID patients for the week with seven unvaccinated. The hospital performed nearly 120 tests, down 20 from the previous week. Positive tests at 14 were less than half of the 29 from the prior week and the 12 percent positivity rate was down from 21 percent from the previous week.
Newman Regional Health is developing a similar data set for regular release to Lyon County residents and media. Greenwood County in Eureka and Morris County Hospital in Council Grove have not announced plans for these specialized data sets.
In county business, the Chase County Treasurer’s Office is closed all week due to an unspecified COVID-19 incident.
Vehicle tag renewals can be done online at www.chasecountyks.org or placed in the courthouse dropbox in Cottonwood Falls.
The Treasurer’s Office will reassess the situation by Friday.
