A major bridge replacement in Lyon County is now moving into the design phase following approval by Lyon County Commissioners Thursday morning.
Commissioners approved two items during their weekly action session presented by Krystle Fessler of the county’s Road and Bridge Department. The first item was an agreement with BG Consultants to develop plans for an Off-System Bridge Replacement at Roads J and 210, roughly three miles north of Emporia, for a cost of $52,650.
The second agreement was with KDOT for the actual replacement project itself. Word on when the replacement will officially begin as well as an exact timeline and potential traffic adjustments is currently pending.
An Off-System Bridge is a structure located on a minor collector road within the county.
Separately, commissioners also requested that Facilities Director Mark McKenna place a project for updates to the Lyon County Extension Building out for bid.
Five executive sessions were also held with no action taken.
The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for their weekly action session next Thursday at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
