A jury in Lyon County District Court has rendered a guilty verdict in an Emporia rape case.
On Tuesday, the jury convicted 33-year-old William Nunez on one count of rape. Nunez had been accused of having sex with a person who was unable to give consent due to the impact of alcohol or drugs as part of an incident in March.
Sentencing will be at 11 am Nov. 30.

Jury trial proceedings have started in Lyon County District Court for one man accused of rape.
William Nunez, 33, faces one count of rape involving sexual intercourse with a mentally deficient victim. The legal complaint provided by Lyon County District Court to KVOE News indicates Nunez allegedly had sex with a person who was unable to give consent due to the effects of alcohol, drugs or other substances. Authorities allege the incident happened in late March.
Jury selection began Monday morning. Trial could conclude Tuesday.
