Formal charges are on the books for an Emporia man accused of brandishing a weapon on the Emporia State University campus and making a threatening phone call to Emporia Police in separate incidents earlier this month.
Ray Anthony Kolee Henderson-Lenox was formally charged with single counts of criminal threat, interference with law enforcement, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia before a first appearance Monday in Lyon County District Court. Emporia Police had arrested Henderson-Lenox on suspicion of criminal threat, aggravated assault, flee and elude and possession of marijuana.
Henderson-Lenox will have a preliminary hearing Oct. 25.
Henderson-Lenox was listed as a person of interest after the Lyon County Emergency Communication Center reportedly received a 911 call from a male who said he planned to “kill, murder or harm the police at the Emporia station” and he was going to “shoot directly at one of the officers” Sept. 18. On Sept. 23, a person reported walking a trail at Emporia State Campus Woods when a person allegedly exposed himself, waved a knife, walked away and tried to get inside a locked police vehicle before leaving the scene. Henderson-Lenox was later taken into custody near 12th and Merchant after officers saw him near Ninth and Constitution and a foot chase developed.
