The Emporia State University Department of Nursing will be hosting a special bone marrow swab drive next week and is offering the local community an opportunity to participate in advance Friday night.
ESU nursing students will be set up at Gravel City Roasters Friday night from 5 pm to 7 pm to swab and register local residents into the global bone marrow donor pool. Anyone and everyone is invited to attend and undergo the quick cheek swab to see if they may be a match for one of the millions of individuals currently battling blood cancer.
Nursing student, and recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show, Daisha Paschal says there is always a considerable need for eligible donors given the frequency of cancer diagnoses.
Friday’s swab event is simply a precursor to the main swab drive coming up next week on the Emporia State campus. The drive will take place both Monday and Tuesday from 8 am to 2 pm at the ESU Memorial Union, science building and the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) building.
