There wasn’t a widespread rainfall across the KVOE listening area Thursday, but the rain we had caused some travel issues.
The KVOE studios received 0.10 inches of rainfall, while the Emporia Municipal Airport got 0.15 inches and Allen got 0.20 inches.
Rainfall did lead to several crashes on the Kansas Turnpike, including an injury crash in southern Chase County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 23-year-old Robyn Bellner of Overland Park was southbound when the crash happened almost 25 miles southwest of Emporia shortly after 11 am. Bellner was southbound and hydroplaned through a patch of standing water, hitting the center barrier wall afterward.
Bellner went to Newman Regional Health by private vehicle with suspected minor injuries afterward. She was wearing her seatbelt and was the only person in the pickup truck when the crash happened.
