The 2021 Halfway 2 Everywhere Music and Arts Festival has been wrapped up for close to a month now, and for lead organizer and Kansas Free For Arts Executive Director Hank Osterhout has spent that time working and planning for the 2022 event.
During an interview on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia last week, Osterhout stated his creative gears have been turning even before the second annual event wrapped up over the Labor Day Weekend last month. He says he has already lined up a few bands for the 2022 festival including the Kansas City Bear Fighters and Too Many Zooz based out of New York.
Osterhout also stated he is hoping to continue diversifying the lineup of acts for the day to include more child-centric performers.
While community members will have to wait a little less than a year before seeing those performers take the stage in Emporia, Osterhout says they will not have to wait as long for the return of a popular performer from the inaugural Halfway 2 Everywhere festival. The One Guy, a performer from Las Vegas, NV, is set to make a return to the community on New Year’s Eve this year.
Osterhout says they are currently working to see where exactly the show will take place, however, he is very excited to have a performer like That One Guy coming back to the community after he was so well received back in 2019.
As work continues to grow both the local live music scene and the Halfway 2 Everywhere festival itself, Osterhout also announced that he and others are working diligently to find a new permanent headquarters for KFA. He tells KVOE News there are several local properties he has his eyes on, however, the main focus is finding a location that includes a space where younger musicians can come to practice and hone their craft.
