Both Flint Hills Community Health Center and Newman Regional Health have third-round and booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines now available.
Newman Regional Health has the Pfizer option Tuesdays from 12:30-4:30 pm and Thursdays from 8 am to noon. The Health Center also has the Pfizer vaccines available Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern, who will be on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:15 Thursday with an update on COVID response matters, says booster shots are available and recommended for people at or above age 65, residents of long-term care centers, residents ages 18 to 64 with underlying medical conditions and residents ages 18 to 64 that are at increased risk of exposure.
Millbern stresses the booster shot effort is different from the push to vaccinate immunocompromised people, who are now advised to get a third shot before they can get a booster. The Pfizer vaccine typically involves two doses.
