Madison overcame an early deficit to come out on top in the 2021 battle of the bulldogs Friday defeating Chase County 66-50.
Chase County took the early lead in the first quarter scoring 16 unanswered points before Madison managed to answer with a Drew Stutseman touchdown run. In the second quarter, both teams found the endzone often, however, Madison managed to capitalize on a fumble recovery and two late touchdowns by junior Bryson Turner to take 44-36 heading into the locker room.
Madison would maintain their lead and momentum in the second half outscoring Chase County 22-14 en route to their sixth win on the season.
Turner led the Madison offense with 319 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. Turner says they knew they had to maintain control in the second half.
Head coach Alex McMillian says this is the hardest test they’ve faced so far this year. He was happy to have his team play a full game for the first time this season.
