A Winfield woman was hurt in a motorcycle crash in northwest Lyon County on Sunday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 41-year-old Samual Raprager of Hesston was westbound on US Highway 56 between Bushong and Council Grove when his motorcycle hit a deer about 1:45 pm. Raprager’s passenger, 41-year-old Lorena Rojas, were hurt.
The Highway Patrol crash log has Raprager going to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries, but Emporia Fire says he declined medical treatment and simply rode with Rojas to the hospital. She suffered suspected serious injuries.
Neither were wearing helmets.
4:15 pm Sunday: One taken to Newman following motorcycle deer collision north of Emporia Sunday
One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after a motorcycle struck a deer north of Emporia early Sunday afternoon.
Lyon County First Responders were called to the 300 block of Road 350 just after 2 pm for a motorcycle deer collision. According to personnel at the scene, the motorcycle was traveling west when it struck the animal.
Two individuals were on the motorcycle at the time of the accident, a male and female. The female was transported with what are being called non-life threatening injuries.
Names are not being released.
