There is another round of scams targeting Evergy customers.
Evergy says it has been receiving reports of people claiming to be representatives of the company and demanding immediate payment to avoid service disconnection. In most cases, the caller tells the customer to give up credit card information, adding the customer has a bounced check needing to be resolved or there is a past-due bill. The impostors then typically ask for a pre-paid card for payment.
Evergy says the company will never demand payment on the same day of a potential disconnect. It also never asks customers to buy pre-paid debit cards to pay for service.
If you have questions about the status of your bill, call Evergy at 800-383-1183 or check your situation online at www.evergy.com.
