A football wasn’t the only thing flying through the air at Welch Stadium Saturday.
Emporian Tyson Allen was throwing golf clubs down the field, but not because he was having a bad day, rather he was searching for a world record and, at least unofficially, he got it. Allen smashed the previous world record for golf club throwing of 199 feet with a throw of 71.69 meters which translates to just over 230 feet.
Allen says its an amazing feeling to know he may soon be immortalized in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Not only was Allen searching for a record Saturday, but he was also doing his best to raise funds for two local teams that are very close to his heart, the Emporia High School Golf Team and Emporia State Track and Field.
Fundraising totals are pending as is word on when Allen’s throw will be made official.
