Shortly after midnight Sunday, a two-vehicle crash happened in far eastern Wabaunsee County that caused potentially serious injuries to a Council Grove man.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a car driven by 25-year-old Chance Bender of Council Grove and an SUV driven by 28-year-old Daniel Dick of Colorado Springs, Colorado, were both westbound on Interstate 70 when the crash happened about nine miles west of Topeka. Troopers say Bender was driving at a high rate of speed and rear-ended Dick’s SUV. Bender then lost control of his car, which went into the center median and rolled “multiple” times.
Bender was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital for treatment, while Dick was not hurt. Bender was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
