Part of Kansas Highway 99 near the Lyon-Wabaunsee county line was closed early Sunday after a medical helicopter needed to make an emergency landing.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says an EagleMed helicopter had an engine malfunction and had to make the unplanned landing. The landing was safe with no damage to the helicopter or injuries to anybody on board.
Lyon County served as support for the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office with traffic control. Wabaunsee County has directed KVOE News questions on the matter to American Medical out of Topeka, which provides air ambulance service to Wabaunsee County. A response is currently pending.
The scope of the engine malfunction has not been released.
