In other vaccine news, the federal government has now approved mix-and-match options for people receiving vaccines — meaning people who have received an initial course of Pfizer can receive Moderna or Johnson & Johnson boosters if they choose. Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration have not recommended whether patients need to stay with their original vaccination company for their booster dose. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy say patients should stay with their original vaccine maker.
