Availability of COVID-19 booster shots is expanding.
Flint Hills Community Health Center is now offering boosters of Moderna along with boosters of Pfizer. Residents need to set appointments by calling 620-342-4864.
The Health Center will hold a special COVID-19 booster dose vaccination clinic at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Bowyer Community Building from 9 am to 4 pm Nov. 4. All three approved vaccinations — Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer — will be available for residents meeting certain criteria:
*Age 65 and older
*Age 18 and up who live in long-term care settings
*Age 18 and up who have underlying medical conditions
*Age 18 and up who work in high-risk settings
People can mix and match booster doses if they choose. For Johnson & Johnson, residents can get booster doses as soon as two months after their initial shot. For Moderna or Pfizer, residents need to wait at least six months before they can schedule a booster.

Newman Regional Health is also offering third-dose and booster shots of the Pfizer vaccine. Residents interested in getting those shots can call the hospital’s scheduling hotline at 620-343-6801, schedule an appointment through the www.newmanrh.org patient portal or go online to www.newmanrh.org/covid19vaccine.
