The forecast of high winds and cool temperatures has prompted Emporia State University to cancel one of its planned Halloween activities for children.
ESU Residential Life was planning to have a Park and Treat event Thursday evening at Wilson Park, but temperatures in the mid- and upper 50s — combined with wind gusts as high as 45 mph — forced organizers to reconsider holding the event.
The weather caused no issues for the ESU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Trunk and Treat event Monday.
