Three Emporians were involved but unhurt as part of a fatality hit-and-run crash that happened east of Ottawa on Friday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by 22-year-old Adrion Self of Emporia was sideswiped by a semi about 10 miles east of Ottawa shortly before 8:30 pm. Self was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 at the time and was behind a pickup driven by 54-year-old Lori Anne Maxwell of Gloversville, New York. Maxwell had stopped her truck for currently unlisted reasons and was walking towards Self’s SUV when the semi hit and killed her.
The Highway Patrol has not listed a description of the semi allegedly involved.
Self and two passengers, 22-year-old Amanda Soule and newborn Miles Self, were not hurt.
