The Emporia State soccer team closed out the regular season with a 4-1 win at Nebraska Kearney Sunday afternoon.
Mackenzie Dimarco gave Emporia State the early lead with a goal in the 15th minute of play. Nebraska Kearney tied the match a minute later. Emporia State retook the lead for good in the 35th minute of play on a goal by Aislinn Hughes. In the 2nd half the Lady Hornets added two more goals, Kyliegh Roe in the 70th minute of play and Mackenzie Dimarco added a goal in the 75th minute of play. It was her 18th goal of the season tying the school record for most goals in a season. Emporia State out shot Kearney 25-6 and 15-4 on goal. With the win the Emporia State soccer team is 15-2-1 and 9-2 in the MIAA. The 15 wins is a school record.
Emporia State is the number 2 seed in the MIAA tournament and will host Northeastern State next Sunday in the first round of the tournament.
