Emporia’s Kansas Army National Guard Armory on Merchant Street will be the site of an open house Friday.
The open house will include an M1A2 Abrams tank and two Humvees. The Abrams Conduct of Fire tank gunner simulator will also be open to demonstrate tank operations. Residents can also take in a selection of military weapons and equipment and a 40-foot climbing wall. Guardsmen will also have information about the National Guard, the First Battalion 635th Armor Regiment’s recent experiences at the National Training Center and the unit’s most recent deployment.
The open house at 1809 Merchant is from 1-6 pm.
