Emporia State University is celebrating Veterans Day a few days early.
ESU has a special Veterans Celebration coming Saturday. Activities start with a light continental breakfast at 10 am in front of Plumb Hall, followed by a special program at 10:15 am. The program will feature a presentation of the colors by the National Sons of the American Revolution, an MIA-POW ceremony and the playing of “Taps” before the keynot speech from Emporia State graduate and retired Army Col. Laura Trinkle. She graduated from ESU in 1991 and retired from the Army last year after nearly 30 years of service to the country.
Immediately after the celebration, Emporia State’s new Student Veterans Center will be dedicated in Morse Hall South Room 434. The area is designed to be used by student veterans as an area for study, meetings and other gatherings.
