The Emporia State football team celebrated Senior Day and Salute to Service day with a 56-21 win over Lincoln Saturday.
Emporia State Coach Garin Higgins said they played well.
The Hornets scored on their first 4 possessions of the game.
Quarterback Braden Gleason threw touchdown passes to Kai Lemons, Cory Thomas, and Dexton Swinehart in the 1st quarter.
Calvin Boyce would score two rushing touchdowns in the 2nd quarter to give the Hornets a 35-0 lead at halftime. Boyce said they played for the seniors.
In the 3rd quarter, Braden Gleason threw a touchdown pass to Jaylen Varner.
Kyle Rinck returned a fumble for a touchdown.
Back-up quarterback Jack Diamond scored a rushing touchdown in the 3rd quarter.
Before the game Graduate Student Jace McDown was honored with the Steve Henry award. He was also 1 of 10 seniors recognized before the game.
With the win, the Emporia State Hornets improve to 6-4 to guarantee a winning season.
They will close out the regular season next Saturday at Northwest Missouri State.
