The Emporia State women’s basketball opened their season with a 86-68 win over Harding in the MIAA/GAC Challenge Friday afternoon.
The Lady Hornets used a 17 – 6 run to close out the 3rd quarter to overcome a 7 point deficit and take a lead they never gave up. Emporia State would make 8 three-point shots in the 2nd half to help spark the run. Coach Toby Wynn was pleased with the second-half effort.
Emporia State had 4 players score in double figures led by Tre’Zure Jobe and Karsen Schult who finished with 17 points each. Karsen was 5 for 8 from the 3 point line. Kali Martin, who was 3 for 3 from the three-point line added 11 points and Victoria Price finished with 10 points.
The Lady Hornets will play Henderson State Saturday afternoon with tipoff at 1 pm.
