The Madison Bulldogs could not stave off a late flurry by Little River as the Redskins ended the Bulldogs’ season with a 38-32 sectional victory Friday Night.
The Bulldogs would build an early lead thanks to two first-quarter touchdowns by seniors Drew Stutseman and Casey Helm. Little River would respond in the second quarter outscoring the Bulldogs 16-12, however, a 26-yard touchdown pass with less than a second to go in the first half gave Madison a 26-16 lead at the half.
Madison would maintain their lead deep into the fourth quarter before Little River overtook the lead 38-32 on a 12-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute to go. Madison would get one final crack at regaining the lead but an interception with just over 30 seconds left to play would seal the win for the Redskins.
Madison was led by Helm with 243 yards of total offense and five touchdowns on the night. Madison Head Coach Alex McMillian was disappointed by the loss, but says he could not be more proud of how his team performed all season long.
Madison ends the 2021 season with a final record of 10-1.
