With the coronavirus pandemic still ongoing, it’s only a matter of time before area counties hit certain caseload milestones.
The latest came last week as Greenwood County went past 1,000 total cases to 1,008. Besides Lyon County, which leads the area with 5,748 cases, Greenwood County becomes the fourth area county above 1,000 total cases since March 2020. Osage County is second areawide with 2,106 cases, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Coffey County is third with 1,278.
Three area counties remain below 1,000 cases. The closest is Wabaunsee County with 951 cases. Morris County has 802 cases. Chase County has 381 cases.
