Area residents are encouraged to give Emporia Main Street a range of items that can be sent overseas to Kansas troops.
Director Casey Woods says the Care Packages for Our Troops Drive is fully underway through the FreedomFest Committee.
Clothing, communication items, personal supply items, foot care objects and recreational items are all suggested.
This is the 13th year Main Street has held an item drive for troops overseas, but it’s the first time for the drive since Diane Tebbetts ended her drive and partnered with Main Street to help troops for the holidays. Tebbetts announced the partnership back in August after working on the drive for 17 years.
The drive officially ends Dec. 1. Residents can drop off items or funds at the Main Street office, 727 Commercial. They can also donate funds online at www.emporiamainstreet.com.
