The Emporia State men scored the games first 2 points and never trailed on the way to a 96-78 win over Rockhurst Wednesday night.
Coach Craig Doty said there were a number of positives.
5 Hornets scored in double-figures led by Tray Buchanan with 24 points.
Kaden Evans finished with 23 points, making 7 of 10 three-point shots.
Mayum Buom added 16 points, Jumah’Ri Turner scored 13 points and Mason Thiessen finished with 10 points.
Brenden Van Dyke returned to the line-up and finished with 7 points.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 2-1. They will host William Jewell Saturday afternoon.
Emporia States Tray Buchanan has been named the first MIAA mens basketball player of the week. Buchanan averaged 30 points in last weeks games against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Arkansas Tech.
