Drug rehabilitation services, equipment costs, insurance documents and budgetary matters all gained approval by Lyon County Commissioners Thursday morning.
During their weekly action session, commissioners gave unanimous approval to a request from Lyon County Chief Judge Merlin Wheeler to consider budget issues related to appointed counsel services. According to Wheeler, the request was made due to a dwindling number of available contracted attorneys within the county.
Additionally, commissioners gave unanimous approval to a request from Lyon County Emergency Communications Center Director Roxanne Van Gundy for LCECC’s portion of the Spillman/Motorola CAD bill, $20,395.96, to the city of Emporia. Assistant County Counselor Michael Halleran also presented two requests to commissioners Thursday. The first sought commission approval of a contract renewal with IMA for insurance consulting services.
Halleran also presented a settlement participation form for commission approval. The commission’s approval of the form will see the county now join the Kansas Fights Addiction Act which was created under House Bill 2079.
The act uses funds received from opioid litigation to fund addiction prevention, counseling, rehabilitation and other services.
The Lyon County Commission will reconvene at 9 am next Wednesday inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
