Area residents turned out in droves to enjoy themselves, get some holiday shopping done and support several worthy causes as part of the Messiah Lutheran Church Harvest Home Festival on Saturday.
The turnout was important to Pastor Eddie Hosch, who noted the impact the fundraising will have on the beneficiaries — Charis Place, Habitat for Humanity and Humane Society of the Flint Hills — as well as those groups’ impact on the community as a whole.
Hosch was also pleased the coronavirus response effort let the event return to a normal format after last year’s event went totally virtual. The event had its regular components — live and silent auctions, flea market, jelly cupboard, meals and more. New to the activity list this year was a 5K run-walk.
Fundraising totals will be announced after Sunday’s worship service.
