Residents are encouraged to bid two city leaders farewell as they embark on life journeys after city government.
A special retirement and farewell party is honoring City Manager Mark McAnarney and City Commissioner Jon Geitz. McAnarney has been part of city administration for 32 years, including the last seven as city manager. Geitz has been serving on the City Commission for over eight years before deciding against running for another term earlier this year.
The event is from 2-4:30 pm Dec. 17 at the White Auditorium Little Theatre. McAnarney will be on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia at 11:06 am Monday along with incoming city manager Trey Cocking.
