The Emporia High wrestling teams opened their seasons Saturday.
The girls hosted a tournament. The Lady Spartans had 3 individual champions, Madelynn Griffin at 132 pounds, Virginia Munoz at 138, and Megan Olson at 235 pounds.
Evelin Geronimo placed 2nd at 101 pounds. Kalia Keosybunheuang finished 2nd at 109 pounds.
Natalia Welch finished in 3rd place at 143 pounds and Azia Obregon finished in 3rd place 115 pounds.
Chase Countys Kinzie Rogers finished in 1st place at 109 pounds.
Council Groves Jolie Ziegler finished in 1st place at 170 pounds.
The Emporia High boys finished in 4th place at the Riley County Falcon Duels. The Spartans won 1 of 4 matches in pool competition. they defeated Larned and lost to Andover, Clay Center, and Marysville. In the 4th place match, they defeated Riley County.
