Prospective fire danger has Chase County Fire Chief Steve Fillmore issuing a burn ban for the county through Saturday.
Fillmore says fire conditions won’t be too bad Thursday, but they could be extreme Friday with a combination of warm, dry and windy conditions. Wind gusts could be above 40 mph, and he says there is a thick fuel load across much of Chase County at this time.
Fillmore plans to review the situation daily. Additional burn bans are possible Tuesday and Wednesday with similar conditions expected.
