Burning will continue to be prohibited in Chase County until at least Monday.
A burn ban, originally issued Thursday and set to run through Saturday, was extended Friday evening following a review of recent weather conditions and potential fire danger. The announcement came hours after the expiration of red flag warnings across the listening area due to critical fire danger concerns Friday.
Conditions improve somewhat Saturday and Sunday with highs ranging from the mid-40s to upper 50s through Monday. Fire concerns may return Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 70s and blustery conditions forecasted.
Chase County Commissioners will review the situation Monday. Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for more updates as they become available.
