The Emporia State women lost a heartbreaker and the Emporia State men lost in a blowout Saturday at Central Oklahoma. In the women’s game, Central Oklahoma scored the final 5 points of the game, the last 2 from the free-throw line with 3 tenths of second to play, and walked off with a 74-72 win.
The Lady Hornets had rallied from 12 down to take a 3 point lead with 2:13 to play in the 4th quarter. A Tre’Zure Jobe basket with 22 seconds to play gave Emporia State a 72-69 lead.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn was disappointed they could not close out the game.
Karsen Schultz scored a career-high 22 points. Fredricka Sheats added 19 points. The Lady Hornets call for 6-4 for the season and 1-3 in the MIAA.
Central Oklahoma won the men’s game 91-67.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty said they did not play well.
Tray Buchanan led the Hornets in scoring with 29 points. The Hornets are now 7-3 for the season and 2-2 in the MIAA.
Both the women and men will host Northeastern State next Saturday
