Northern Heights swept Chase County on the Area Game of the Week Tuesday night.
In the girls game, Northern Heights shut down Chase County’s offense early en-route to a 41-22 victory.
Northern Heights would outscore Chase County 11-8 in the first quarter before the Lady Bulldogs tied the game at 13 early in the second.
Northern Heights would answer quickly with an 11-0 run to close out the first half with a 24-13 lead. The Lady Wildcats would outscore Chase County 17-9 in the second half to pick up their fourth win of the season.
Northern Heights was led offensively by senior Aubrey Hinrichs with 22 points on the night. Head Coach Bob Blair says his team put in a great defensive effort.
With the win Northern Heights improves to 4-1 on the season while Chase County falls to 3-2.
In the boys game, Northern Heights managed to hold off a late rally by the Bulldogs to pick up a 46-43 victory.
Northern Heights would control the momentum in the first quarter outscoring Chase County 9-4. Chase County responded in the second by outscoring the Wildcats 17-10.
Heights would retake the lead in the third with a nearly six-minute 13-0 run and would build the lead to as many as 16 at one time. Despite being outscored 19-8 in the fourth, the Wildcats would hold on to clinch their first win of the season.
The wildcats were led in scoring by seniors Kolden Ryberg with 16 points and Jerrod Campbell with 12.
Head Coach Jacob Lang says his team attacked the basket well.
