The percentage of vaccinated residents needing hospital stays at Newman Regional Health is up slightly.
Newman Regional Health has resumed its weekly COVID-19 Dashboards after not releasing its weekly data sets for over a month. The dashboard released Thursday shows 68 of the 81 patients hospitalized due to COVID since July have been unvaccinated, or 84 percent. That was down slightly from the nearly 88 percent in the last report in early November and below the 90-plus percent noted from July through most of October.
Thursday’s data set also includes information about the number of hospitalized COVID patients per day this month, which has increased from four on Dec. 2 to nine on Wednesday after peaking at 10 this past Saturday. Between Dec. 2-6, there wre no COVID patients coming to the hospital through the Intensive Care Unit — all were coming in through inpatient, observation or skilled nursing units. ICU traffic now accounts for a third of the overall daily COVID traffic at Newman Regional Health.
