As the omicron variant is getting more attention worldwide and has reached Kansas, the state Department of Health and Environment has adjusted its travel quarantine list with more countries removed than added.
Austria, Belgium, Cayman Islands, Czechia, Gibraltar, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Slovakia and Slovenia were all removed Friday, while Andorra was added. Unvaccinated residents are told to quarantine under the following circumstances:
*Traveled between Nov. 4 and Dec. 17 to Slovenia.
*Traveled between Nov. 18 and Dec. 17 to Austria, Cayman Islands and Gibraltar.
*Traveled between Dec. 2 and Dec. 17 to Belgium, Czechia, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Netherlands and Slovakia. *Traveled on or after Dec. 17 to Andorra.
*Attendance at any out-of-state or in-state mass gatherings of 500 or more where individuals do not socially distance (6 feet) and wear a mask.
*Been on a cruise ship or river cruise on or after March 15, 2020.
Unvaccinated or partially-vaccinated residents still need to quarantine for seven days with a negative test or 10 days without testing.
Fully-vaccinated residents, meaning residents who are two weeks past their final vaccine dose, do not have to quarantine if they have remained asymptomatic since they traveled. People who had COVID-19 in the past also don’t have to quarantine — if they have test evidence of a prior infection, are within six months of their infection and have remained asymptomatic since they traveled.
International travelers are being told to be tested within three days of their flights into the United States as per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
