Evergy is proposing a series of energy efficiency programs that it says will offer its customers millions of dollars in net bill savings.
Evergy says a package already in place in Missouri — including home energy audits, programmable thermostats, rebates for efficient lights and other upgrades — is similar to one proposed to the Kansas Corporation Commission for use in Kansas. Manager of External Communications Gina Penzig says the overall set of programs could save Kansas residential and business customers as much as $42 million in net bill savings. The programs could also generate $13 million in assistance for low-income and rural customers, and it could foster job creation, energy education and increased agency partnerships.
If approved by the KCC, possibly by next summer, the programs would start in January 2023.
