Emporia’s planning boards are meeting Tuesday evening.
The Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission meets first, with its meeting at 6 pm at the Municipal Court Room. The lead item is a request from CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness for a Conditional Use Permit at 1519 Merchant, Emporia State’s old Chi Omega building. If approved, this would start the process for CrossWinds to relocate its administrative and counseling offices from the longtime home at 1000 Lincoln.
Planning Commission members will also consider a request from Prismatic Endeavors to rezone 902 Neosho. In addition, the board has two requests from John and Claudia Kretsinger relating to nearly 17 acres at South Exchange and Sodens Road — one for rezoning the currently unplatted and unaddressed property and one for a Conditional Use Permit to designate a Housing Opportunity Overlay.
Along with all that, the board will field a request from CMR Holdings and Guardian Construction for a Conditional Use Permit allowing storage and warehousing in a C-3 General Commercial District at 2606 West Highway 50.
The agenda for the Emporia-Lyon County Joint Board of Zoning Appeals is quite a bit shorter. This is connected to the Planning Commission request from CMR Holdings and Guardian Construction, but it involves gravel surfacing for part of that proposed development.
The Board of Zoning Appeals meeting is at 7:30 pm at the Municipal Court Room.
