The Emporia Water Treatment Plant has a new leader at the helm for the short term.
Emporia Public Works Director Dean Grant has taken over the position on an interim basis following the recent resignation of long-time plant manager Phil Cooper. Cooper has spent the past 30 plus years as an employee of the city of Emporia.
City Manager Trey Cocking recently spoke with KVOE News and offered Cooper well wishes in his future.
With Cooper now gone, the city has begun the search for a new permanent plant manager. Cocking says there are some characteristics they’re looking for in the ideal candidate.
Cocking says interested candidates for the manager’s position may apply online at the city’s website Emporia-Kansas.gov. Applicants must have a level four water operator certification from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to apply.
