Lyon County commissioners will have their weekly action meeting a day ahead of the normal schedule this week.
Typically, the action session is on Thursdays, but commissioners will have the meeting Wednesday with other schedule adjustments at the Lyon County Courthouse later in the week due to the upcoming New Year’s holiday.
As part of the agenda, Lyon County Health Officer Dr. Ladun Oyenuga and Public Health Incident Commander Renee Hively will give the latest COVID-19 update at a time when the delta variant is responsible for the latest increase in cases and the omicron variant expected across the area at some point soon.
The other main point of business is a discussion of the Lyon County Joint Legislative Statement with Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna.
The meeting starts at 9 am at the Courthouse Commission Chambers.
Following that meeting, county commissioners will join the Newman Regional Health Board of Trustees for a meeting at noon at the hospital.
The key point of business for the Board of Trustees is approval of the 2022 budget. Board members will also field the monthly updates on COVID-19, operations and quality control. Numerous policies could well be passed as part of the consent agenda, where multiple items can be addressed with one vote.
