Probation is the sentence for a man who led local law enforcement on a high speed chase through two counties in July.
Tuesday, Jamison Durkee was sentenced to 12 months of probation through Lyon County Community Corrections for one count of felony flee and elude stemming from the incident earlier this year. There is a 13-month underlying prison term attached to the sentence meaning if Durkee violates his probation in any way he will be sent to prison.
Durkee was originally charged with felony flee and elude, obstruction and a host of traffic counts after going through both Lyon and Chase counties at speeds above 100 mph before he ditched his vehicle near the Kansas Turnpike’s Matfield Green service exit, forcing authorities to change from a vehicle pursuit to a foot search on Jul. 10.
Durkee accepted a plea agreement on one count of felony flee and elude in November.
