An Emporia woman was taken to Newman Regional Health after an accident in the 500 block of West US Highway 50 Thursday afternoon.
Lyon County Sgt. Zach Shafer says a 2005 Chrysler 300 driven by 26-year-old Mariela Garcia was preparing to turn onto West 50 from Road E around 3:09 pm. As Garcia was preparing to turn her vehicle was rear ended by a an eastbound 1997 Chevrolet K3500 driven by Raymond Murphy of Mission.
Garcia was taken to Newman by ambulance with what are being called minor injuries. Murphy declined medical treatment.
Further investigation into the accident is ongoing through the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
