Emporia already has the National Teachers Hall of Fame. It now is hosting the online version of the Gravel Cycling Hall of Fame.
The Gravel Cycling Hall of Fame has launched online at www.gravelcyclinghof.com. Visit Emporia Director LeLan Dains says the online presence is the first step towards a brick-and-mortar presence, perhaps within a year or two.
Nominations are open to the public now. Submissions are now open through March 1, with six categories up for consideration: Athletes, Innovators, Promoters, Routeurs, Storytellers and Volunteers. A selection committee will make the final choices, with this year’s inaugural class announced April 4 before being officially inducted in Emporia before Unbound Gravel activities in early June. For induction activities, residents can donate online, with donations of $250 or more receiving two tickets to the banquet. Residents can also join a group ride with the 2022 inductees on June 3.
The website has general information about the sport and its history, as well as information about the nomination process, sponsors, donations and an online shop.
